CSWS offers congratulations to faculty affiliate Stephen Wooten for his teaching award. Dr. Wooten was active in an earlier CSWS research interest group, Food in the Field, which provided some early ground for the development of the Food Studies Program.

“Stephen Wooten, Department of International Studies Professor & Director of the UO Food Studies Program, has been awarded the Excellence in Teaching Award for Sustainability. He was granted the award for his ‘achievements both in teaching and in crafting a program that supports and promotes sustainability.’

“In order to be considered for the award, candidates must have ‘developed pedagogy and curriculum which reinforce and advance principles of sustainability through course design and instruction.’  The awardee must ‘have exhibited excellence in one or both: innovation (creative integration of principles of environmental, social, and economic sustainability through innovative curriculum design and instruction) and impact (teaching and mentorship which inspires student engagement in sustainability projects on campus or beyond).’”
