CSWS Celebrates Research by Women of Color Faculty

June 4, 2010—Sixteen University of Oregon women of color faculty whose books and journal articles were published in the past two years were honored by the Center for the Study of Women in Society at an event held on the UO campus.

The women recognized for their published works were: Monique Balbuena of the UO’s Clark Honors College, Krista Chronister of the College of Education, Cecelia Enjuto Rangel of the Department of Romance Languages, Lynn Fujiwara of Ethnic Studies/Women’s and Gender Studies, Sangita Gopal of the Department of English, Shari Huhndorf of Ethnic Studies/Women’s and Gender Studies, Kaori Idemaru of East Asian Languages and Literature, Lamia Karim of the Department of Anthropology, Gyoung-Ah Lee of the Department of Anthropology, Gabríela Martinez of the School of Journalism and Communications, Michelle McKinley of the School of Law, Priscilla Peña Ovalle of the Department of English, Irmary Reyes-Santos of Ethnic Studies, Cynthia Tolentino of the Department of English, Mia Tuan of the College of Education and Naomi Zack of the Department of Philosophy.

Russell Tomlin, senior vice provost for academic affairs, spoke at the event. This event was organized and sponsored by the Center for the Study of Women in Society’s Women of Color Project.
