Nov. 12, 2015—Biologist Judith Eisen received the Medical Research Foundation of Oregon’s Discovery Award during its annual banquet “for her seminal work in transforming the aquatic vertebrate model, the zebrafish, into a groundbreaking research model for biomedical science.”

Around the O noted that “the Discovery Award goes to an Oregon scientist whose scientific contributions have significantly impacted the health field. Eisen’s work in advancing the use of zebrafish as a model organism for research around the world, her role in the emerging field of microbiome research and her leadership in the UO’s Science Literacy Program also contributed to her selection.”

Judith Eisen is a professor in the UO Department of Biology, a faculty member of the UO Institute of Neuroscience, and a CSWS faculty affiliate. For more about the award, go to: http://around.uoregon.edu/content/medical-research-foundation-oregon-honor-uos-eisen-and-nolen
