Bhairavi Desai

Bhairavi Desai is executive director and founding member of the New York Taxi Workers Alliance. The NYTWA is a 19,000-member strong union of NYC professional drivers, uniting drivers of yellow cabs, green cars, black cars & dispatched cars. Desai received the Ford Foundation’s Leadership for a Changing World Award in 2005.

This is the second annual event in the Margaret Hallock Program for Women’s Rights. Sponsored by the Wayne Morse Center for Law and Politics. It is cosponsored by the Center for the Study of Women in Society and is funded in part by the Lorwin Lectureship on Civil Rights and Civil Liberties.

Both events are free and open to the public.
