“A University of Oregon advisor has received a top honor in her profession for her service to students.
“The National Academic Advising Association has given Alisa Freedman the 2017 Region 8 Faculty Advisor Award for Excellence in Advising.

“Freedman is an associate professor of Japanese literature and film in the Department of East Asian Languages and Literatures. She also serves as undergraduate advisor for the Japanese culture major in the Hamilton West residence hall.
“In the nomination for the award, Freedman was lauded for her collaborative work between students and faculty within Hamilton West and for her innovative approaches to student learning and advancement across the university.
“‘NACADA is the gold standard organization for professional advising,’ said Lisa Freinkel, dean and vice provost for undergraduate studies. ‘It affirms what we’ve known all along. Alisa exemplifies what it means to serve students and keep them moving towards a UO degree.’”
“In 2016, Freedman was recognized internally with the UO Excellence in Advising Award.”
