July 12, 2011—University of Oregon associate professor Lynn Fujiwara was named chair elect of the Section on Asia and Asian America for the American Sociological Association. Co-coordinator of the Women of Color Project at the UO Center for the Study of Women in Society, Fujiwara is an associate professor in the Department of Women’s and Gender Studies and the Ethnic Studies Department, where she is also department head.
Fujiwara is the author of Mothers without Citizenship: Asian Immigrant Families and the Consequences of Welfare Reform (Minneapolis: University of Minnesota Press, 2008), which was awarded the 2008 Book Award in Social Sciences from the Association for Asian American Studies.
