Professor Amy Koehlinger’s lecture derives from her forthcoming book, Rosaries and Rope Burns: Boxing and Manhood in American Catholicism, 1890-1970. Koehlinger holds a Ph.D in religious studies from Yale and an M.A. in history from the University of Oregon. She has published widely on the history of American Catholicism and was associate professor of religious studies at Florida State University until 2012, when she joined the faculty in the School of History, Philosophy and Religion at Oregon State University.
