Breathtaking History

IMG_3227Last night, on July 28, 2016, history was made when Hillary Rodham Clinton became the first woman to be nominated by one of the two major political parties in the United States. What’s more, her nomination comes as we prepare to say goodbye to our nation’s first black president. To be witnesses to this moment in history is nothing short of a rare and priceless privilege.

As a feminist research center, the Center for the Study of Women in Society acknowledges this moment and this privilege, and the work of so many who have come before us who paved the way for us to stand where we are today.

CSWS has been funding feminist research, as well as explorations of the complicated nature of gender identities and inequalities, for more than 40 years.

Are you a CSWS member – or have you renewed your membership? Membership begins at $40 annually. Now is the time to support this unique and vital center for feminist thought and scholarship on the University of Oregon campus.
