May 28, 2015—Sandra Morgen, a former, long-time director of the UO Center for the Study of Women in Society, was honored with a 2015 Outstanding Career Award by the Office of the Vice President for Research & Innovation. The award is given to tenured faculty members at the associate or full professor rank with a history of distinguished scholarship.
A professor in the Department of Anthropology, Morgen has conducted more than 40 years of distinguished research focused on the intersections of gender, race and class in U.S. public policy.
In announcing the award, the Office of the Vice President for Research & Innovation noted: “Through her scholarship and intellectual leadership, she has been instrumental in the founding of the fields of feminist anthropology and the anthropology of North America.”
